Anne Butler McNerney is a figurative and landscape painter working with oil and watercolor in Chicago's North Shore along the banks of Lake Michigan.
Her love of swimming and boating has lead her to lakes, oceans and seashores, where she gets much of her inspiration. Beach walkers, bathers and boats have inspired many of her paintings which are filled with color and capture the feeling of a warm summer day.
Born with a drawing pencil in her hand, Anne took her first art class at The North Shore Art League in 2nd grade. She was inspired by New Trier High Schools great art resources, which led her to a BFA in printmaking at California College of the Arts and life drawing classes at The Chicago Art Institute.
During four overseas moves and while raising four boys, Anne satisfied her need to create by taking up Chinese brush painting in Singapore and watercolor in England and Israel. She started oil painting while living in Minnesota when she finally found the time and space to do so. She is now back on Chicago's North Shore enjoying her time painting on the banks of Lake Michigan.
